Judy Barie’s paintings are both spontaneous and deliberate. A web of layered imagery draws her viewers closer; Judy’s cool use of colors are designed to sooth the spirit. Judy statement further describes the inspiration for her paintings.
My paintings are a balance of unforeseen elements and accidents combined with contrived printed images. The dichotomy in the use of loose brush strokes with tight patterns is meant to intrigue and confuse the viewer at the same time. Color is the principal and thematic motif that threads the multiple images together. An attempt to conceal one color behind another, while visible and non visible images constantly compete for the viewers attention, leads to a curiosity of looking back to the first image you see.
